NRSC Attacks Klobuchar for DailyKos Ad

Wed Mar 08, 2006 at 05:31:39 PM PDT

First, the good news for me, an Amy supporter. Amy got 77% of the DFL Straw Poll vote at last night's caucuses. Ford Bell received 16%.

Now, the annoying news. The NRSC sent out a press release attacking MN-Senate candidate Amy Klobuchar for advertising on DailyKos the ad to the right. This comes after they attacked Senator Byrd for advertising on DailyKos. Personally, I think the ad is pretty damn funny. I especially like the "M" and "K" on their chests. The NRSC sees it differently. From the press release "Klobuchar Advertising On Liberal Fringe Website DailyKos":

"Amy Klobuchar advertising on a hate-filled website representing the far-left wing of her party gives much more insight to her views than her repeated silence has," said NRSC spokesman Brian Walton.  "While it isn't surprising that Klobuchar is comfortable with the extreme liberal left of her party, it is surprising that she is so publicly aligning herself with them."

More on the flip.

I think this attack is, of course, ludicrous. My question to folks here is do you think these types of attacks (e.g., MoveOn support, DFA support, DailyKos) have any real effect on either the press or voters? I don't believe they do, but I am always somewhat dubious of how the MSM operates. They can turn a silly story like this, into an ongoing talking point for the Republicans. And what's the best way for us to fight these attacks?

I think we fight back. We attack the NRSC for advertising on Powerline and Red State. We attack them for all the fringe views that are articulated on those blogs.
